Official Congressional Recognition for Mesothelioma Awarded with Passing of H.Res 771

December 1, 2010 — In a bill originally introduced by Rep. Betty McCollum (D–MN) in 2009, Mesothelioma Awareness Day (H.Res 771) was approved by the 111th Congress on November 29th, 2010. Mesothelioma Awareness Day is a national resolution that does not require renewal and will be recognized every September 26 from 2011 forward. This achievement could not have come to be without the help and support of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and members of the public who alerted their representatives to the importance of calling attention to the seriousness of mesothelioma cancer.
