MARF To Hold Second International Symposium On Malignant Mesothelioma
LAS VEGAS, NV — September 30, 2005 — Brayton Purcell congratulates MARF (Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation) on its upcoming international conference on the cancer mesothelioma. This is the second year in a row that the organization has gathered together top scientists and researchers as well as mesothelioma patients, families and caregivers.
Mesothelioma is an aggressive cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. At the moment, there is no cure for the disease, but there are various treatments that can improve the patient’s quality of life and increase survival. Physicians attending the conference will discuss various mesothelioma treatments, including chemotherapy, surgery, and new medications. They will also consider early detection and diagnosis of the disease. The sessions will be led by renowned cancer experts Dr. Nicholas Vogelzang and Dr. Harvey Pass.
Mesothelioma patients and their families can attend sessions about clinical trials, drug side effects, chemotherapy, surgery, and treatment with ALIMTA®, a recently approved mesothelioma drug. Social workers and psychologists will discuss strategies for emotional recovery. There will be break–out sessions for caregivers, families, and patients to facilitate sharing and problem solving.
The conference will be held on October 6–8 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. For a complete, detailed program of lectures and events, see the MARF web site.
