Mesothelioma Research Continues

February 13, 2008 — In their continuing quest for a way to treat mesothelioma, the deadly asbestos cancer, researchers are looking at targeting the body’s immune system to attack cancer. The goal of the research is to identify substances that will help the body fight cancer. In early animal studies involving mesothelioma in mice, the researchers were able to eliminate the tumors in some mice, and slow progression of the tumor in others. While effective treatments in mice don’t always work on humans, this is just another step in trying to identify effective treatments for mesothelioma and other cancers.
